Exhaust Bushings
A line that stays in place
Original rubber bushings soften with heat: the exhaust hangs down, knocks against the axle tunnel, or rubs against the bumper. Reinforced polyurethane bushings keep their shape and hold the exhaust in place, even with a stainless-steel exhaust that is heavier than the original.
The two measurements to take
Measure the diameter of the rod on the mount and the center-to-center distance between the two holes. A bushing that is too short puts the exhaust under stress and eventually breaks a mounting tab.
Firmer, so slightly more noticeable
A firm bushing transfers more vibration to the body than soft rubber. On a daily driver, you can replace only the most heavily loaded points, near the mufflers.
