Hydraulic Handbrakes
The hydraulic handbrake acts directly on the circuit through its own master cylinder, without using cables. The lockup is sharp, immediate, and above all repeatable: a cable-operated handbrake heats up and loses effectiveness after a few corners, while hydraulics respond the same way down to the last tenth.
Single circuit or dual circuit?
The single circuit is spliced into the rear line: quick to install, but the lever and pedal share the same circuit, and a leak in the handbrake system takes away the rear braking. The dual circuit gives the lever its own line all the way to the calipers: this is what most competition regulations require, and it leaves the service brakes intact in the event of a failure.
A lever is not enough
You also need something to mount it. A vehicle-specific bracket avoids drilling into the tunnel by guesswork, while a mounting plate distributes the load across the sheet metal - without it, the floor flexes and eventually deforms. The anti-lock button removes the ratchet: the lever returns by itself as soon as you release it, which is what you want for drifting and definitely not for parking on a slope.
