Polyurethane Bushings
The original bushing is made of rubber: it filters vibrations, but it deforms under load. Polyurethane is harder - it deforms much less, so the geometry stays where it should.
What changes
Under cornering or braking, a rubber bushing allows the control arm to move by a few millimeters: camber and toe vary during the maneuver, and the car gives you that feeling of vagueness between the steering wheel and what the wheels are doing. With polyurethane, the connection is precise and repeatable: the car responds at the same point every time. It is the most affordable precision upgrade you can make to a chassis.
What you have to accept in return
More road noise and vibrations transmitted into the cabin, especially when cold and on cobblestones. This is not a defect; it is the direct trade-off for increased rigidity. On a family car, start with the anti-roll bar; on a track car, you can replace everything with PU.
When fitting
Polyurethane must be installed greased, using the special PU grease supplied or silicone - never mineral grease, which damages it. And tighten to the specified torque with the wheels on the ground, not in the air: otherwise the bushing works under preload and squeaks.
