What is a manifold?

The manifold — or valve block — is the heart of every air ride system. It receives compressed air from the tank and distributes it to each air spring through solenoid valves controlled by the ECU. In a 4-corner system like the VU4, each wheel has its own inlet and outlet valve, enabling fully independent height control at every corner — for a perfect level, even on uneven terrain.

Good to know: The VU4 comes with ¼" NPT → ⅜" PTC fittings for PTC 3/8" hoses. If you use ¼" hoses, you will need additional reducers. Also remember to install a water filter (water trap) between the tank and the manifold inlet to protect the valves — this may be required for the warranty.

Step-by-step installation

Choose the mounting location

The VU4 is generally mounted in the trunk or under the vehicle, in a dry and accessible location. Plan for a rigid mounting on sheet metal or a custom bracket to prevent vibrations. Orient the manifold to facilitate routing the hoses to the 4 air springs.

Connect the air lines

Connect the manifold inlet to the tank through your water trap (mandatory for the warranty). Then connect each valve outlet to the corresponding air spring using ⅜" DOT-PTC hose. The ¼" NPT fittings are supplied and compatible with standard AccuAir fittings.

Connect the harness to the e+ ECU

Connect the VU4 plug & play harness to the dedicated port on your AccuAir e+ ECU. The connection is foolproof — you cannot plug it into the wrong port. Secure the wiring neatly to prevent rubbing against moving parts.

Check for leaks and calibrate

Before closing the trunk, gradually pressurize the system and check every fitting with soapy water. Once it is leak-free, calibrate it from the e-Level+ app (if you have the Height+ or Pressure+ kit).

⚠️

Important: Installing a water trap between the tank and the VU4 inlet is mandatory to maintain the warranty. Condensed moisture in the hoses can damage the stainless steel solenoid valves over time. Do not compromise on this.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the VU4 and the ENDO-VT?

The VU4 is an external manifold — a compact block that you install separately in the trunk or under the vehicle. The ENDO-VT is integrated directly into the air tank (tank-mounted), reducing the number of connections and simplifying installation for setups with a custom tank. Both are 100% compatible with the AccuAir e+ ECU. The VU4 offers greater flexibility in placement, while the ENDO-VT provides a cleaner look.

Is the VU4 compatible with my existing AccuAir ECU?

Yes — the VU4 is designed to work with the AccuAir e+ ECU. If you have an older SwitchSpeed or pre-2019 e-Level system (R9/R10), you’ll need to check harness compatibility. With a recent e+ Connect system, it’s direct plug & play.

Can I use this manifold with ¼" tubing?

Yes, but you’ll need ¼" NPT → ¼" PTC reducers (not included). The fittings included in this kit are for ⅜" DOT-PTC tubing, which is the most widely used standard for air ride setups. We recommend ⅜" for optimal flow and faster suspension raise/lower times.

Is the water trap really mandatory?

Technically, you can do without it, but AccuAir makes its warranty conditional on using a water trap between the tank and the VU4 inlet. Moisture that condenses in the lines eventually reaches the valves and gradually corrodes them — even stainless steel ones. It’s an investment of a few euros that could save you from replacing a €650 manifold.

Can I install the VU4 under the vehicle, exposed to the elements?

The harnesses are waterproof and the aluminum block resists moisture well, but an underbody installation directly exposed to water, salt, and mud is still not recommended in the long term. If you have no other choice, protect the manifold with a watertight cover and apply an anti-corrosion product to the fittings.
