BBS publishes the weight of each bare wheel, which few manufacturers do. This is useful information: the wheel is part of the vehicle's unsprung mass, the mass the shock absorbers must control over every road imperfection. A lighter wheel is easier to control and also reduces inertia during acceleration and braking.

For reference, an 18-inch alloy wheel commonly weighs between 10 and 13 kg depending on its width and design. The tire's weight is added to this figure.

Mounting, hardware and rings

With BBS, the mounting kit — hardware and centering rings — is provided when purchasing a set of 4 wheels. An order of 1, 2 or 3 wheels is delivered bare. BBS hardware is provided only if your vehicle's original hardware is not compatible, and centering rings only if they are necessary: specify your vehicle when ordering, and we will determine what you need.
