BBS states the weight of each bare wheel, something few manufacturers publish. This is useful information: the wheel is part of the vehicle's unsprung mass, which the dampers must control over every road irregularity. A lighter wheel is easier to control and also reduces inertia during acceleration and braking.

For reference, an 18-inch alloy wheel commonly weighs between 10 and 13 kg, depending on its width and design. The tyre's weight is added to this figure.

Fitting, hardware and rings

With BBS, the fitting kit — hardware and centring rings — is supplied with the purchase of a set of 4 wheels. An order of 1, 2 or 3 wheels is supplied bare. BBS hardware is supplied only if your vehicle's original hardware is not compatible, and centring rings only if required: provide your vehicle details when ordering and we will determine what you need.
