What this part changes

The mount is the upper shock absorber anchor: it supports the front-end weight and allows the strut to pivot while steering. A sharp crack when steering while stationary is caused by its bearing.

Competition versions eliminate the rubber in favor of a bearing and a rigid connection: direct feedback, zero deformation, sometimes integrated camber adjustment - and everything the shock absorber absorbs is transmitted into the body.

What to plan for

  • Replace at the same time as the shock absorbers: the strut is already removed.
  • On a lowered car, they wear out faster - the shock absorber reaches the bump stops more often.
