What this part changes

The mount is the upper anchor point of the shock absorber: it supports the weight at the front and allows the strut to pivot when steering. A sharp cracking noise when steering while stationary usually comes from its bearing.

Competition versions eliminate the rubber in favor of a bearing and a rigid connection: direct feedback, zero deformation, and sometimes integrated camber adjustment - but everything the shock absorber absorbs is transmitted into the body.

What to plan for

  • Replace them at the same time as the shock absorbers: the strut is already removed.
  • On a lowered car, they wear out faster - the shock absorber reaches the bump stop more often.
