Difference between swing axle and IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) axle:

• Swing axle: The rear wheels are connected to swing arms pivoting on a fixed axle. This simple and robust system is often used on older Volkswagen models, but can cause camber variations during compression/expansion.
• IRS axle: Each rear wheel is independent, connected to a half-shaft with constant velocity joints. This system provides improved driving comfort and more stable handling, especially when cornering.
