What this part changes

The brace connects the two shock absorber mounts. In a hard corner, the loaded side of the suspension pushes outward and the geometry deteriorates precisely when it is needed most: the brace distributes the load between both sides.

The front end becomes more precise on turn-in, and the car maintains the same response from one corner to the next. The effect is noticeable on older chassis, convertibles and high-mileage cars; it is more subtle on a modern body that is already rigid.

What to plan for

  • Check the clearance under the bonnet: the engine cover, hoses and filter housing do not always accommodate the brace.
  • A brace should only be fitted to sound mounts: adding rigidity between two points that move achieves nothing.
