What this part changes

The brace connects the two strut tops. In hard cornering, the loaded suspension strut pushes outward and the geometry deteriorates precisely when it is needed most: the brace distributes the load between both sides.

The front end feels more precise when turning in, and the car maintains the same response from one corner to the next. The effect is noticeable on older chassis, convertibles and high-mileage cars; it is subtler on an already rigid modern body.

What to plan for

  • Check the clearance under the bonnet: engine covers, hoses and the air filter housing do not always leave enough room for the brace.
  • A brace should only be fitted to sound strut tops: stiffening between two moving points achieves nothing.
