What this part changes

The link connects the stabilizer bar to the suspension arm: it transmits the anti-roll force. Its ball joints work constantly and are exposed to water, salt, and brake dust.

The metallic rattling noise at low speed on rough roads is caused by these links nine times out of ten - long before the shock absorbers that are usually blamed.

What to plan for

  • Always replace them as a pair: a new link paired with a worn one will wear out quickly.
  • On a lowered car, the working angle changes: a shorter or adjustable link puts the bar back in its proper plane.
