The lip is the flat section that separates the wheel's outer edge from the start of the spokes. It gives a wheel its sense of depth and is the primary aesthetic factor on this type of design: the more pronounced it is, the deeper the wheel appears once mounted.

Rotiform publishes this measurement, making it possible to compare two references more accurately than by eye alone. At the same dimensions, a deeper lip generally means a lower offset: check clearance under the fender.
