The lip is the flat section that separates the edge of the wheel from the start of the spokes. It gives a wheel its deep-dish appearance, and it is the main visual criterion for this type of design: the more pronounced it is, the deeper the wheel appears once fitted.

Rotiform publishes this measurement, making it possible to compare two references more accurately than by eye. At the same dimensions, a deeper lip generally means a lower offset: check clearance under the fender.
