Banjo Fittings & Banjo Bolts
The banjo connects a hose to a caliper or master cylinder by freely swiveling around its bolt: the orientation is adjusted during installation, and the hose does not twist as the suspension moves.
Two measurements to take
The hose's Dash size (3 or 4) and the banjo bore diameter, from 8.5 to 14.5 mm depending on the bolt it connects to. Both must match: a Dash 3 banjo with a 10.2 mm bore will not fit a 12.5 mm bolt.
Angled or straight
The angled version is available in 20°, 30°, 45° and 90° angles to route the hose along its intended path. This prevents the tight bend that causes the braid to rub against the caliper throughout suspension travel.
Two washers, always new
A banjo bolt is sealed by two copper washers, one on each side. They crush during the first tightening and cannot be reused: a banjo reinstalled with its old washers will seep.
