Fenders & Wide Fenders
The wide fender is the mechanical solution for a wheel that sticks out. Rather than driving with a tire that rubs or bringing the offset in, you widen the wheel arch.
How much widening
Fenders are sold according to their widening measurement, from +25 mm - discreet and often sufficient - to +50 mm and beyond for an unmistakable widebody look. Do the calculations beforehand: wheel width, offset, and any spacers. A fender that is too wide makes the wheel look like it is floating in empty space, while one that is too narrow solves nothing.
Front and rear are not fitted the same way
A front fender is bolted on: it can be replaced without touching the structure. A rear fender is part of the body - the widebody extension is bonded, riveted, or welded over it, and cutting the sheet metal is permanent.
The registration document
Beyond a few centimeters, the overall width changes and no longer matches the registration document. This is a track-only modification.
