Brake Master Cylinders
The master cylinder converts travel into pressure. Everything depends on its diameter, and the correct diameter depends on what it is working with.
Choosing the diameter
A small diameter (0.625", 0.70") builds pressure quickly but requires long travel: a soft pedal or lever with moderate effort. A large diameter (0.875", 1") provides a firm, short control but requires more force. For a hydraulic handbrake on stock rear calipers, 0.70" is the starting point.
With or without a reservoir
The integrated-reservoir model installs on its own and can be checked at a glance. The bare model requires a remote reservoir and a supply hose, but fits where the former does not and places the fluid level above the cylinder - as required for proper bleeding.
