Carburetion & Individual Throttle Bodies
For vintage builds and race engines: twin-choke carburetors, dedicated intake manifolds, individual throttle bodies, and the necessary gasket kits.
What it changes
One throttle body per cylinder delivers throttle response that no shared manifold can match: there is no longer a plenum to get moving, and the engine reacts to every millimeter of pedal travel. High-rpm cylinder filling also improves because each cylinder has its own short, straight runner. This has been the configuration of naturally aspirated racing engines for fifty years.
What it requires
Tuning. The idle is more demanding, the bodies must be synchronized with a vacuum gauge after every removal, and the factory jets are only a starting point: they need to be adapted to your engine, altitude, and exhaust. Properly tuned, the setup is spectacular; poorly tuned, it consumes too much fuel, stalls, and fouls.
The diameters
The 40 and 45 mm bodies cover most four-cylinder builds: 40 to maintain air speed and torque, 45 when the engine is large or revs high. Too large, and the engine becomes weak at low rpm.
