What this part changes

A throttle plate per cylinder delivers throttle response that no shared manifold can match: the engine reacts to every millimetre of pedal movement, without the volume of air that has to be set in motion in a plenum. This is the choice for classic engine builds and track cars.

The trade-off is tuning. Idle is more demanding, the throttle bodies need to be synchronised again, and the jets must be adapted to the engine, altitude and exhaust. A properly tuned setup is spectacular; poorly tuned, it consumes fuel and stalls.

What you need to plan for

  • Dyno tuning or analyser-based tuning: the factory jets are only a starting point.
  • Synchronise the throttle bodies with a vacuum gauge after every removal.
  • Replace the gasket set every time the assembly is dismantled.
