Racing Pedal Boxes & Pedal Braces
A racing pedal box (pedalbox) replaces the original assembly: each pedal operates its own master cylinder, without a brake booster or linkage.
The balance bar
This is its main advantage. The two brake master cylinders - one for each axle - are connected by a bar whose pivot point shifts as the adjuster is turned: the front/rear balance can be adjusted in the pits, between sessions, without removing anything. A conventional proportioning valve only limits the rear; the balance bar actually shifts the balance.
Without a brake booster, the effort changes
You have to press considerably harder than with the original assist. This is intentional - the feel becomes proportional and easy to read - but it can be surprising on the first braking input, and it requires a seat that holds the hips securely.
