V-band: Remove your exhaust in one minute
A V-band connection consists of two weld-on flanges and a clamp that tightens them against each other. No gasket, no seized bolts: just one nut to loosen. It is the standard connection at the turbo outlet, on an external wastegate, or between two sections of exhaust.
Choosing the diameter
The stated diameter is that of the tube to which the flanges are welded: a 76 mm V-band fits a 76 mm tube. Check whether the flanges are flat or male/female interlocking: the latter self-center and seal better.
Studs and nuts
On a manifold or turbo, the hardware operates at over 800 °C. Use studs and nuts designed for this purpose, installed with high-temperature copper grease, and retighten them after the first heat cycles.
