One throttle body per cylinder delivers throttle response that no shared manifold can match: the engine reacts to every millimeter of pedal movement, without the volume of air that must be set in motion in a plenum. This is the choice for classic performance builds and track cars.

The trade-off is tuning. Idle is more delicate, the throttle bodies need to be synchronized again, and the jets must be adapted to the engine, altitude, and exhaust system. A properly tuned setup is spectacular; a poorly tuned one consumes fuel and stalls.
