One throttle body per cylinder delivers throttle response that no shared intake manifold can match: the engine reacts precisely to pedal input, without the volume of air that a plenum has to move. This is the choice for classic engine builds and track cars.

The trade-off is tuning. Idle is more delicate, the throttle bodies need to be synchronized again, and the jets must be adapted to the engine, altitude, and exhaust. A well-tuned setup is spectacular; a poorly tuned one consumes fuel and stalls.
