One throttle body per cylinder delivers throttle response that no shared intake manifold can match: the engine reacts to every millimetre of pedal travel, without the volume of air that must be set in motion in a plenum. This is the choice for classic builds and track cars.

The trade-off is tuning. Idle is more delicate, the throttle bodies must be resynchronised, and the jets need to be adapted to the engine, altitude and exhaust. A properly tuned setup is spectacular; a poorly tuned one consumes fuel and stalls.
