What this part changes

The original bushing is made of rubber: it filters well, but it deforms under load. During cornering or braking, the arm moves by a few millimeters and the alignment changes during the maneuver - this is the vagueness between the steering wheel and the wheels.

Polyurethane deforms much less: the connection becomes precise and repeatable, and the car responds at the same point every time. The trade-off is more road noise and vibrations in the cabin, especially when cold.

What to plan for

  • Install lubricated with PU or silicone grease - never use mineral grease, as it attacks polyurethane.
  • Tighten to the specified torque with the wheels on the ground.
  • On a family car, start with the front stabilizer bar before converting everything to PU.
