BBS publishes the weight of each bare wheel, something few manufacturers do. This is useful information: the wheel is part of the vehicle's unsprung mass, which the dampers must control over every road imperfection. A lighter wheel is easier to control and also reduces inertia during acceleration and braking.

As a reference, an 18-inch alloy wheel commonly weighs between 10 and 13 kg, depending on its width and design. The tire's weight is added to this figure.

Installation, hardware and rings

For BBS, the mounting kit — hardware and hub-centric rings — is supplied with the purchase of a set of 4 wheels. An order of 1, 2, or 3 wheels is delivered bare. BBS hardware is supplied only if your vehicle's original hardware is incompatible, and hub-centric rings only if necessary: provide your vehicle details when ordering, and we'll determine what you need.
