BBS publishes the weight of each bare wheel, something few manufacturers disclose. This is useful information: the wheel is part of the vehicle's unsprung mass, which the dampers must control over every road imperfection. A lighter wheel is easier to control and also reduces inertia during acceleration and braking.

For reference, an 18-inch alloy wheel commonly weighs between 10 and 13 kg depending on its width and design. The tire's weight is added to this value.

Installation, hardware and rings

With BBS, the mounting kit — hardware and hub-centric rings — is supplied with the purchase of a set of 4 wheels. An order of 1, 2 or 3 wheels is delivered without the kit. BBS hardware is supplied only if your vehicle's original hardware is not compatible, and hub-centric rings only if they are necessary: specify your vehicle when ordering, and we will determine what you need.
