What this part changes

The suspension arm holds the wheel and withstands braking, potholes and acceleration. When its bushings or ball joint have play, the alignment moves under load: the steering becomes vague, the tyre wears unevenly, and no wheel alignment adjustment holds.

A new suspension arm restores the car's original precision - it is a repair, not an upgrade, but it is often the most noticeable change you can feel on a ten-year-old car.

What to plan for

  • Wheel alignment required after installation: the toe alignment changes as soon as an arm is removed.
  • Torque tightening with the wheels on the ground, otherwise the bushings work under preload and squeak.
  • If the axle is dismantled, take the opportunity to check the ball joints and drop links.
