What this part changes

The control arm holds the wheel and absorbs braking, potholes and acceleration. When its bushings or ball joint have play, the geometry moves under load: the steering becomes vague, the tire wears unevenly, and no wheel alignment setting holds.

What to plan for

Wheel alignment is mandatory after installation: the toe changes as soon as you touch an arm.
Tighten to the specified torque with the wheels on the ground; otherwise the bushings work under preload and squeak.
If the axle is removed, take the opportunity to check the ball joints and stabilizer links.
