The control arm holds the wheel in place and absorbs braking, potholes and acceleration. When its bushings or ball joint develop play, the alignment shifts under load: the steering becomes vague, the tire wears unevenly, and no wheel alignment adjustment stays correct.

What to plan for

  • Wheel alignment is mandatory after installation: toe changes as soon as you work on a control arm.
  • Torque the fasteners with the wheels on the ground, otherwise the bushings work under preload and squeak.
