Gamechanger: air ride built for the Beetle
Gamechanger develops air suspension in Germany for air-cooled, rear-engined VWs. Each strut pairs a Bilstein damper with a Contitech rolling-lobe air spring: the Beetle sits on the tarmac when parked and rises in seconds to drive, with modern comfort and handling. With the front relocators and rear brackets, it bolts onto the original mounting points, no welding.
Which Gamechanger kit?
- Complete kit: all four air struts, for link pin or ball joint front axle and swing axle rear, supplied with a §19.3 parts certificate.
- Complete kit + manual management: the complete kit plus ready-to-wire STREETEC management (compressor, aluminium tank, dual gauge, wiring, 25 m of air line). Everything to go low, in one order.
- Front or rear kit: to equip one axle or spread your build over time.
- Parts: 1" drop or adjustable rear spring plates, dropped spindles (≈ 6 cm), relocators (Beetle and Type 3) and skid plate.
Link pin or ball joint axle?
Beetles up to model year 1965 generally have a link pin front axle, those from 1966 a ball joint axle. Fitting the front struts requires an adjustable front axle. When ordering a kit, give your car's year: we check compatibility before shipping.
Fitting and approval
Complete kits come with a §19.3 certificate (Teilegutachten) for the listed Beetle saloons and convertibles, valid in Germany; elsewhere, check your country's rules. Professional fitting is recommended: see our partner garages.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the complete kit and the manual kit?
The manual kit contains the complete Gamechanger kit plus STREETEC manual air management: you get everything to run the air ride. With the complete kit alone, the management is chosen separately.
Is shipping free?
Yes for Gamechanger air ride kits, to France and most European countries (UK excluded). Spare parts have weight-based shipping.
Does the kit fit the Karmann Ghia?
Yes, the Karmann Ghia (type 14) uses the Beetle's chassis and axles. The §19.3 certificate covers the Beetles listed on the product page.
Do I need to weld?
No, with the optional front relocators and rear brackets the struts bolt onto the original mounting points.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes, with Alma or PayPal, depending on the order amount.
