What this part changes
The brace connects the two shock absorber top mounts. In a fast corner, the loaded suspension strut pushes outward and the geometry deteriorates at the exact moment you need it most: the brace distributes the load between both sides.
The front end becomes more precise when turning in, and the car maintains the same response from one corner to the next. The effect is noticeable on older chassis, convertibles, and high-mileage cars; it is subtler on a modern, already rigid body.
What to plan for
- Check the clearance under the hood: engine covers, hoses, and the filter housing do not always accommodate the brace.
- A brace should only be fitted to sound top mounts: stiffening between two moving points achieves nothing.
