What this part changes

The strut brace connects the two shock absorber mounts. In a hard corner, the loaded suspension side pushes outward and the geometry deteriorates precisely when you need it most: the brace distributes the load between both sides.

The front end feels more precise when turning in, and the car maintains the same response from one corner to the next. The effect is noticeable on older chassis, convertibles and high-mileage cars; it is more subtle on a modern, already-rigid body.

What to plan for

Check the clearance under the bonnet: engine covers, hoses and the filter housing do not always accommodate the brace.
A brace should only be fitted to sound strut mounts: stiffening two points that move provides no benefit.
