What this part changes
The brace connects the two strut top mounts. In a hard corner, the loaded suspension strut pushes outward and the geometry deteriorates precisely when you need it most: the brace distributes the load between both sides.
The front end responds more precisely when turning in, and the car maintains the same response from one corner to the next. The effect is noticeable on older chassis, convertibles and high-mileage cars; it is more subtle on a modern body shell that is already rigid.
What to plan for
- Check the clearance under the hood: engine covers, hoses and air filter housings do not always accommodate the brace.
- A brace should only be installed on sound top mounts: stiffening between two points that move achieves nothing.
