What this part changes

The stabilizer bar link connects the stabilizer bar to the suspension arm: it transmits the anti-roll force. Its ball joints work constantly and are exposed to water, salt, and brake dust.

The metallic rattling noise at low speed on rough roads is caused by these links nine times out of ten - long before the shock absorbers that get blamed.

What to plan for

Always replace them as a pair: a new link next to a worn one wears out quickly.
On a lowered car, the working angle changes: a shorter or adjustable link puts the bar back in its proper plane.
