What this part changes

The link connects the stabilizer bar to the suspension arm: it is what transfers the anti-roll force. Its ball joints are constantly exposed to water, salt and brake dust.

The rattling noise at low speed on rough roads is caused by these links nine times out of ten — long before the shock absorbers that usually get the blame.

What to plan for

  • Always replace them as a pair: a new link fitted opposite a worn one will quickly wear out.
  • On a lowered car, the working angle changes: a shorter or adjustable link puts the bar back in the correct plane.
