What this part changes

The stabilizer bar link connects the stabilizer bar to the suspension arm: it transmits the anti-roll force. Its ball joints are constantly exposed to water, salt and brake dust.

The metallic rattling noise at low speed on rough roads is caused by them nine times out of ten - well before the shock absorbers that are usually blamed.

What to plan for

Always replace them as a pair: a new link installed opposite a worn one quickly wears out.
On a lowered car, the operating angle changes: a shorter or adjustable link puts the bar back in its proper position.
