What this part changes

The link connects the stabilizer bar to the suspension arm: it transmits the anti-roll force. Its ball joints work constantly and are exposed to water, salt and brake dust.

The metallic clunking noise at low speed on rough roads is caused by these links nine times out of ten - well before the shock absorbers that are usually blamed.

What to plan for

Always replace them as a pair: a new link paired with a worn one will quickly deteriorate.
On a lowered car, the operating angle changes: a shorter or adjustable link puts the bar back in its correct plane.
