What this part changes
The brace connects the two shock absorber top mounts. In a hard corner, the loaded suspension side pushes outward and the geometry deteriorates at precisely the moment it is needed: the brace distributes the load between both sides.
The front end becomes more precise on turn-in, and the car maintains the same response from one corner to the next. The effect is clear on older chassis, convertibles and high-mileage cars; it is more subtle on a modern, already rigid body.
What to plan for
- Check the clearance under the bonnet: engine covers, hoses and air filter housings do not always accommodate the brace.
- A brace should only be fitted to sound top mounts: stiffening between two moving points achieves nothing.
